Pawsitive Dawgs Training

Helping you build a more pawsitive relationship with your dog...
PDawgs Team

One well trained dog!

Murphus Maximus, introduced first as he is one of the main reasons this all came to pass...he wasn't always "Mr. Wonderful"...how could 8 pounds of cute have been so much trouble?

Murphy came to Lori-Ann as an 8 wk old foster dog with a broken leg, originally named "Taz" for Tazmanian Devil, as he attacked everyone in sight, kids, adults, cats, other dogs...you name it. And anyone who tried to tell him that was wrong, he would turn on them too.

By 6 months it was obvious that Murphy was not growing out of this, he was getting WORSE. Lori-Ann thought she was pretty dog savvy as she had a lot of experience with dogs, rescue dogs in particular, as she had fostered countless numbers of them, but she was stumped.  She approached different dog trainers but nothing helped; Murphy was out of control. After he nipped her niece in the face, she knew she had to do something; the methods she tried all seemed the same and certainly weren't working.

Enter dog trainer Brad Pattison from the hit TV shows, "At the End of My Leash" and "Puppy SOS." Is Brad tough? Yes. Can he come across pretty intense? Yes. Can he back up EVERYTHING he says and does his method provide you with the results you're looking for?! Yes and YES!

After only two one-on-one sessions, there were significant changes in Murphy. Add in the outdoor dog training classes and Murphy was reborn...as was Lori-Ann. Although she has had many dogs before, the bond that Murphy and her have is stronger than all the others -and it's not just the journey from "bad" dog to good - this experience changed forever how Lori-Ann communicates with dogs.

Because of the challenges Lori-Ann experienced with her bundle of dynamite and the amazing results achieved, she wanted to teach others how to have the same deep level of communication and respect with their dog that Murphy and her have for each other.  As a result, they went to Brad's Hustle UpTM CTE Training (Certified Trainer/Educator) based in Kelowna and became certified in teaching the method of training that literally saved Murphy's life.

The beauty of our method is that your dog doesn't have to have issues; it's perfect for ANY dog. Angels, Devils, big and small, Pawsitive Dawgs can help them all!

Lori-Ann (aka LA)Rescue Dogs are our specialty
...has always had a huge passion for animals and has owned many dogs, both big and small.  A pet based career was always a goal; she has over 12 years of extensive experience with animal rescue organizations, fostering over 70 dogs and gaining priceless experience from working with and studying dogs and their behaviours.

Although there are many dog trainers out there, most provide the same type of training. The method PDawgs practices is unique as it does not use any "masking techniques." This means that if a dog has issues, nothing is used to hide them, such as choke chains, prong collars or treats. The  issues will reveal themselves so they can be resolved, permanently. Plus, they use AFFECTION as  the "cookie", so you never need to worry that you will run out of the reward, or forget it at home!  There's an added bonus too, all your pockets will not smell of liver!

Lori-Ann:  I'm so stoked to be following my life's dream.  And with my diversely talented team, the sky is the limit!  We so look forward to helping you create a more pawsitive relationship with your dawg. I can be reached directly at loriann@pawsitivedawgs.com

Lucie (aka Frenchy)

Calgarys Dog Training at its finest!By day, Lucie is a mild mannered school teacher, by night she dons her SuperDogTrainer cape and continues her passion for education by teaching dogs and their owners to have stronger, more meaningful relationships.  Her teaching background is an amazing asset to PDawgs and our clients.  She also does a lot of dog sitting and has gained invaluable experience by working with a cross section of different dogs and the dynamics this creates.

She has three amazing border collies, Dana, Scully and Leo.  When she got her first dog, Scully, she had this idyllic image that her dog would be Lassie, the Littlest Hobo, and any other super cool dog seen on TV, all rolled into one. She ended up with a border collie who was outsmarting her every step of the way.

When Scully was 4, Lucie thought some of the issues she was having with her would be solved if she got Scully a buddy, so she adopted a second dog, an adult border collie/lab cross from a local rescue group.  The problems didn't decrease, they actually got worse!  Lucie enrolled in a Street Safety dog training class where she learned that she had made a common mistake, getting a second dog is not the answer!  She took the class with each of her pups, had a lot of fun and saw amazing results.  It changed her relationship with her pooches, who became well mannered, well balanced dogs.  The addition of a third dog to the family, Leo the Lover, changed the dynamics again and Lucie had a whole new learning to undertake!

Lucie is a certified 6Legs to Fitness Instructor and is excited to start offering classes in the Spring.  We will keep you posted as these classes become available.  6Legs to Fitness classes offer you the opportunity to work out with your dog, skip the gym, come to 6Legs instead!

Lucie is always eager to share experiences and her knowledge, in French or English!  Lucie can be reached at

Amanda (aka GeeGee - Groomer Girl) Amanda and her crew!

Amanda has extensive training experience and to complement this, she also has over 10 years experience as a Certified Groomer (make that "Canine Stylist!") bringing a totally different skill set to the PDawgs Team.

Multiple trainers on the team provides you, our clients, with countless opportunities.  Although we all deliver the same training message, our differing personalities and backgrounds provide you with unique learning experiences.  We are each big buckets of (somewhat differing) interesting doggy trivia, never a dull moment!  We are also able to offer more classes and seminars.

Amanda is the proud momma of a beautiful Doberman, Cairo, and a princess toy poodle, Georgia.  Although Murphy is not 100% pleased to have another brilliant, little white dog around, he thinks Georgia is absolutely gorgeous, so he's pretty much wrapped around her little paw.

Amanda's bubbly, energetic personality is very contagious, do not be surprised if you start talking faster and waving your hands around a lot after being in the company of Amanda! But don't be fooled, she is a firecracker who KNOWS her stuff!  She can be contacted at amanda@pawsitivedawgs.com

Chris (aka "The Guy")PDawgs newest addition!

The addition of Chris to the PDawgs team has helped on so many fronts...he has helped Lori-Ann with the very serious height (or lack thereof) issue that was taking over the PDawgs team, and he also brings some testosterone balance!

Chris is a great example of a "converted" dog owner.  When he first embarked on training his dachshund, Pebbles, he was told that his dog could not be trained without the use of treats, and that dachshunds are not really an obedient breed.  After 4 1/2 frustrating years of bad behaviours, trying every new training fad, and disappointment, Chris stumbled across "At the End of My Leash."  After seeing the results delivered to the people on the show, Chris and his wife Lisa, signed Pebbles up for Group Classes with Lori-Ann

After taking the classes, he noticed a tremendous change in both his dog and himself. He learned how to communicate with his dog in a clear fashion that she could understand and suddenly had the wonderful, well behaved companion that he had hoped for when first bringing her home. He also saw a new, high-spirited, bouncy personality come out in her that he hadn’t seen before.  He is now able to enjoy taking her places, doing things with her and spending time with her.

The success with Pebbles made him want to help other dogs. He started fostering for a couple of local rescues in Calgary and was able to use the training methods to help make them more adoptable. The changes he saw in these dogs in such a short period of time was staggering - it drove him to want to learn more about this training technique, and how to educate others in it. As a Certified Trainer Educator, he is excited for the opportunity to help others to develop the fantastic bond with their dogs the way he did with his
. Chris can be reached at chris@pawsitivedawgs.com.
